B’nai B’rith Israel is a fast- growing organization with over 3,100 members affiliated with 110 Lodges across the country, (as of the end of 2024).
The B’nai B’rith Israel community believes in volunteering and social responsibility; through a wide range of inspiring initiatives, it has made a substantial impact over the years among various weakened populations of Israeli society. It is also a vibrant social network, where its members meet, hear lectures, engage in various activities, and support each other in time of need.
The organization comprises of Seven Regional Councils (Jerusalem; Tel Aviv; Haifa; Gush Dan; Hasharon; the Northern Council and the Southern Council) that oversee and support activities of the Lodges. All Lodges hold regular meetings, engage in enriching social activities, and volunteer in projects within their respective communities.
Some Lodges have been established by immigrants who were members of B’nai B’rith in their countries of origin, and the meeting are conducted in French, or Turkish or Romanian, among other languages. While helping to facilitate the absorption of new immigrants, these lodges also preserve ties with other lodges around the world.
Members of B’nai B’rith Israel have always been active in times of crisis and war in the country, stepping up to provide financial aid and volunteering where they are most needed. B’nai Brith Israel also channels contributions from abroad in emergency situations. In times of peace, B’nai B’rith Israel’s volunteers help organize scholarships for students; support hospitals by providing critical equipment; organize bar and bat mitzvah celebrations for students from disadvantaged backgrounds; cook meals and organize donations of furniture for the needy; help purchase equipment for soldiers; assist at daycare centers and senior resident facilities; and staff hotlines that serve disadvantaged populations. Many of these activities are conducted in cooperation with the Israeli Ministry of Social Services.
B’nai B’rith Israel’s headquarters are located in Tel Aviv. The president is elected, and the organization is managed by an executive committee made up of representatives of various regional councils, in addition to Advisors to the President in different areas. The current president of B’nai B’rith Israel, elected in June 2023, is Emanuel (Mano) Cohen. Based on Cohen’s strategic plan approved by the executive committee, the main focus in the coming years will be organizational expansion, with the goal of reaching over 5,000 members in 160 Lodges by 2028. A key component of this plan is to establish Lodges with younger members (ages 40-50) to ensure the organization’s future sustainability.
