B’nai B’rith Israel has expanded its partnership with Leket Israel, a major Israeli food rescue organization that harvests tons of surplus agricultural produce, and distributes it to close to half a million needy individuals throughout the country. This month, dozens of B’nai B’rith members started volunteering at Leket’s 6,000 square meter logistical center, where they help sort out the tons of fruits and vegetables received from farms across the country before they are packaged and sent on. Produce that is not suitable for human consumption is not thrown away either, but used to feed animals.
