On September 12, the Bonei Lodge of B’nai B’rith Israel (Sharon Regional Council) will receive the Mayor of Netanya’s Citation for Outstanding Volunteer Work During the Iron Swords War.
Founded more than 40 years ago in Netanya, the Bonei Israel Lodge is composed entirely of new and veteran immigrants from French-speaking countries, with all activities conducted in French. Under the leadership of Dr. Francis Zvi Attali— a B’nai B’rith member for over 16 years and current Lodge President—together with Dina Carrère, the lodge’s dynamic Community Coordinator, the lodge has played a vital role in the wartime effort.
Its members raised funds to purchase ceramic vests, communication equipment, thermal clothing, and military boots for soldiers; donated medical supplies to Ashkelon Hospital; and prepared hot holiday meals for evacuees housed in Netanya hotels. In addition, the lodge financed a computer room for residents of the Western Negev, assisted southern farmers with harvesting their produce, and even organized two fashion shows to support wounded soldiers.
